Port Louis is the capital and largest port city of Mauritius. It is an important port in the western India ocean. It is not only the political, cultural and economic center of the country, but also the largest seaport. There are Western-style parliament buildings, city halls, Arab-style mosques, Indian-style temples and Chinese-style temples.

　　The main economy source of Port Louis is its port's international freight. Port Louis has the largest container transshipment facility in the Indian Ocean and is capable of berthing fourth and fifth generation container ships. In southern area of Saharan Africa, only Port Louis and Cape Town have this capability. The industrial sectors in Port Louis are mainly clothing and textile industries, as well as chemistry, plastics and medicine.
